The Hidden Mountain Pass

[BORDER]

You knew that there must be more Hunter Cats around here. But search as you may, none wanted to show themselves to you. Finally, after scaling part of the mountain wall to get to a ledge which opened to a kind a plateau, you decide that maybe you were wrong, that you should go back the way you came and follow the original pass and see if there were any other creatures about.

That was when the green, tailess male headbutted your leg.

He wanted attention, but refused to stand still to be petted. Eventually he lead you through some bushes to where a green female was sleeping. He seemed to be as surprised as you were to find her there. Then with a playful pounce, woke her up with a yelp.

Not wanting to be left out of all the excitement, a purple female came racing in to see what all the noise was about. Seeing the two greens having an argument, she decided that it would be a lot of fun to leap right into the middle of it. This annoyed the greens ones even more and things started to get really wild.

A second male came to see what's up. He carefully worked his way down the side of the mountain face. Though there were lots of footholds, you were still amazed at the ease at which he managed it. Of course he probably felt little fear, having wings in case he should fall.

Then another blue male came to join the fray, but then changed his mind and didn't get involved. Instead he lay down some distance away and watched the nonsense unfolding before him. He was obviously older than some of the others, and probably thought they were all pretty silly and too full of youthful energy to bother reprimanding.

At last, one came to break up the mass of flying fur and hisses. A black male with a vibrant lion's mane of hair leapt into the midst of them, scattering the other effortlessly. Even the blue male had decided it would be wise to leave at this time. For a while, the black one remained triumphant amidst tufts of multi-coloured fuzz.

Then with a regal shake of his head, he stalked back to where he had been napping, content now in the silence which replaced the chaos.
