The Magical Herd

The Rainforest

Kova loved the way the trees tried to hold her back as she raced through the rainforest. Their branches would try to tangle in her mane, their leaves to blind her, trick her into tripping over one of their roots. But they hadn't succeeded yet. She was swift and sure and knew that nothing could catch her if she did not want it to.

With remarkable agility, she weaved her way between obstacles. Soon she was soaked by the water the leaves had captured during the last rain, but she didn't mind. It was part of the experience, the freedom of nothing holding her back, nothing stopping her from where she wanted to go. Even the ravine up ahead was no problem, she merely spread her wings and soared across, landing light as a feather on the other side, not even breaking her stride.

Difficult as she was to see when she was standing still, her marbled green coat blending into her surroundings, she was equally difficult to see when she was in a full gallop. One would see nothing but a green blurr, the shape hard to make out against the forest backdrop, and so quickly it would disappear into the brush that you had no hope of making out the form, though there was little doubt that something had passed.

You pause a moment, having had that fleeting experience, then shrugged it off. You heard something up ahead and you were eager to investigate.
