The Magical Herd

The Rainforest

You stood there feeling kind of silly as the vines crawled higher up your body. I guess you just couldn't feel scared anymore, so silly was the next best thing. At least the wind had stopped because it was getting to the point where the vines were so tight that you couldn't even shiver anymore. A strange sensation, something you'd have to find words to describe if you ever got out of here. Didn't seem likely though. Not with that leagus mare standing there, eyeing you as prey.

Her coat was an electric fire of red. It seemed to you that the streaks of light moved across her body as her muscles rippled when she walked. A huntress through and through. You were impressed, and honoured that such a great predator would be the one to finish you off. Sleek and powerful, you knew death would be swift at her paws.

With a mighty swipe, she ripped apart the vines without even touching your clothing. Wow.

"There now, couldn't see you underneath all that. Did you think you could hide there?"

Again, best let her decide the answer to that question herself. At the moment she seemed more interested in looking you over like a museum piece that to eat you. "The others told me there was a human in our lands. I had to admit I thought they were lying, no creature would be that foolish to venture so deep into our territory."

Smelly, and now stupid too? Again, better than dead.

"I'd very much like to know what you're like on the inside. That's my favorite part." She licked her lips as she said this, you decided she didn't mean what your personality was like. "But we do not hunt on All Hallow's Eve."

Halloween? That would explain a lot. But apparently she wasn't going to explain any more than this for she had left you alone again. A twinge at your ankle got you walking again. The vines rustled in frustration.
