The Caves

"Fortunately there are not too many Silshars in the Mountain, and of those there are, most are not as rude as Shirkan," Pomdar speaks as the pair of you wander through the labyrinthine caverns. You wondered where he was leading you, or if he was walking as blindly as you.

Either way it wasn't long before you came across a pair of dragon whorlings.

They were both long and lithe, with several pairs of small wings along their serpentine bodies. The male hovered in the air, the female twisted her body. There was an uncomfortable silence for a few moments, then the female smiled, "Hi. I'm Simmel, and this is Zoaran. And you are?"

Pomdar speaks for the both of you and the whorlings nod. They didn't seem to be thrilled to be interrupted, but they were being polite just the same. Some small talk ensued followed by Pomdar suggesting that you and he get going along, "We have somewhere we have to be," he explained.

They wave goodbye as you depart. Once you were certain they could not longer hear, you ask Pomdar what he meant, where was he taking you. He shrugs, "It was just an excuse to go, obviously we weren't welcome. Is it not good manners amongst your species to leave at first convenience? Of course amongst dragons, over-staying your welcome could become a bloody and even deadly affair, so our hatchlings learn their manners quick, and well..."

He paused in his insightful look into dragon-manners as a tall purple dragon rose up on his hind legs before you. His nearly translucent wings fluttered in the darkness of the tunnel. But his attention wasn't on you, it was on a female whorling that appeared to be stalking towards him. Pomdar pushed you back out of the way.

There was a sudden rush of scales on stone and then the thud of bodies. A suddenly yelp, and the sound of claws clicking away into the distance. You tried to see what was going on, but Pomdar's big body blocked your view. When you finally managed to peek your head around, all that remained were echoes and a couple of drops of blood.

Pomdar said quietly, "Yes, our code of conduct is very strict. Step out of line and you will be punished." You shudder, knowing that you knew nothing about dragon codes of conduct, that you could step out of line without even knowing it. You hoped that dragons took that into account when judging your actions, though you were afraid to ask.
