Lucy hears sneaking, creeping,
crumpling noises
coming from inside
the walls.
She is sure there are
wolves living in
the walls
of her house.
But, as everybody says, if the wolves come out of the walls, it's all over.

This book is silly, funny, and scary, all wrapped into one. I had picked it up on a whim, simply because it was written by Neil Gaiman and the illustrations caught my eye. In this book, a girl hears the sound of something in the walls. Her mother says mice, her father says rats, her brother says bats...but the girl is certain that it is wolves. And when it turns out she is right they are forced out of their house to live in their backyard. Sitting around the fire they discuss where they could go, perhaps to the Sahara, or Outer Space, someplace far from wolves in walls. But the girl wants her house back and slips into the walls herself to spy on the wolves. But if people are scared of wolves in the walls, what are wolves scared of?
The illustrations are a mix of photography and illustrations, creating a bizarre and somewhat creepy feeling. For those who are fans of Coraline (or Tim Burton for that matter) this is a book you might enjoy! I know I did.
