Liza is on her way to the local stables when she slips on the snow and hurts herself! Out of nowhere, a sleigh pulled by a white unicorn appears and takes her all the way to the stable. Her friends don't believe it was really a unicorn; Liza must have been seeing things! But Liza is determined to prove that she knows what she saw!

Was it a unicorn or Liza's imagination? Was a unicorn guiding the children to abandonned animals or was it just coincidence? Either way, if the unicorn's goal was to help the weak and encourage the children to care for animals, then it succeeded, imaginary or not. Because sometimes, finding proof of magic would take the magic away, better to be left wondering.
I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I'm sure I would have enjoyed it as a kid. The stories are light and fun, with four good friends having adventures and helping others.
