Readers may picture unicorns as beautiful white horselike creatures with a single horn in the middle of the head. However, depictions of unicorns vary throughout history from culture to culture. This book introduces readers to what unicorns are, how unicorn stories differ across the globe, and where unicorn stories originated.

For some reason I was oddly excited to read a fact book about unicorns. It brought me back to my childhood when I'd assign myself "research" topics on various animals, real or imaginary, and read up on them and write up reports with pictures and everything.

This book is a little simplistic but it is intended as a book for new readers to read on their own, so the sentences are short and clear. It covers a range of unicorn legends from around the world, with pictures to illustrate the different kinds of unicorns. I've seen better books of this type but I still had fun revisiting unicorn lore. There was even something new to me (the rhinoceros with the hollow horn that had a face on it!!!)
