A humorous take on the unicorn trend, Unicorn NOT Wanted is funny picture book starring an uninvited unicorn that hijacks the story.?
"There are way too many unicorn stories , so this book will be A UNICORN FREE ZONE!
And it will be set where you definitely won’t find unicorns... THE WILD WEST!
This is an anti-unicorn, unicorn story, which pokes fun at the never-ending stream of unicorn books , but then becomes what it sets out not to be... thanks to a unicorn intruder!
A unicorn arrives in disguise as a horse on the first pages, but when her hat is removed and her horn exposed, chaos ensues...
It's really silly, but has a positive message of not stereotyping people and being yourself.

If you've read my other unicorn book reviews, by now you'll have figured out I really, really hate bad artwork in kids books. I mean what's the point? It looks like the target audience drew the illustrations in this book, don't kids ever want to see something that looks nice? Something they could trace and learn how to draw better? Basicaly it was just a big mess.
OK, rant over...but the story...I kinda liked it. There are a lot of kid unicorn books out there, I should know, I've been borrowing everything I can find from the library and here it is mid-October and I'm still finding more to borrow. So it was kind of fun reading a book that made fun of the fact that they wanted to write a book with no unicorns in it...but the unicorn (and pug) kept butting in. Pugs are also pretty popular in kids books, especially books that also have unicorns in it, I can think of several offhand.
So this book made me laugh. I didn't like the art but I loved the story and how the author and characters talked back and forth with each other. Oh, and don't forget, no rainbow farts or glitter poop, leaving those out always wins some extra points from me.
