A novelization of the movie U.
In a magical world, there lives a princess who, like Cinderella, must serve those who are her guardians now that her parents have gone missing. Frustrated and sad, she starts crying "Uuuu!!...Uuuu!!..." and suddenly sitting next to her is a unicorn named U. They become fast friends. When Mona becomes a teenager, she gets harder to live with, so after one argument, U wanders off into the forest, only to run into Lezard, one member of a musical group. Then one thing leads to another, till we find out that U is a little bit like Mary Poppins. Unicorns go to children that need them, but then must leave when they grow up.
The first thing that caught me offguard was that Mona seems to be some kind of yellow dog? And that U looks more like a person than a unicorn. The strange creatures continue throughout, it turns out everyone is some kind of animal, the guardians are rats, and the musical group has a pair of rabbits, a cat and a mouse.
The artwork is weird, makes me think of some animations I remember from the 80's a bit. And because the book is based on a movie, I think a lot had to be left out, so the story is a little jumpy and it's a bit hard to figure out why the characters are reacting the way they do, probably makes a lot more sense if you watch the movie first.
