In Elfes, a red elf trying to rebuild her people heard a legend about how some red elves might exist in another land, Ogon. And thus the world of Aquilon doubled in size with Arran and Ogon meeting across a thin landbridge guarded by what is essentially a dwarven tollbooth. On the other side we find...well, Africa. But also an entirely new world to explore. I'm totally loving the African vibe.

Bored of centaurs? Well what about half man / half giraffe (I particularly liked that combo). Or if orcs are not your thing, what about gorillas? Goblins don't ride wolves here, they ride hyenas. The people are more tribal, the magic more shamanistic. They have ghouls too, but they are different from the kind in Arran. It's the same kind of thing we're used to, but refreshingly different. So far there are only a handful of books, and a couple in the Elfes series, but there is room for many many more. Which is great since even after reading nearly 100 books in just one year, I'm not yet bored of these series. The artwork, the characters, the worldbuilding and plots constantly amaze me and I could happily read a hundred more. Unfortunately having caught up with the already published books I'm going to have to be patient and only read a handful more each year, but I'm happy to see that as they expand their worlds it means that they aren't planning on stopping anytime soon!
