Countdown #1-3
Before he retired to his vineyard, Jean-Luc Picard was the most decorated admiral in Starfleet. Then one mission changed his life forever. After discovering that a looming supernova threatens the entirety of the Romulan Empire, the Federation launches a mission of unparalleled scale. Admiral Jean-Luc Picard heads to the colony to plan the evacuation but makes a shocking discovery!
Written by Star Trek: Picard co-creator and supervising producer Kirsten Beyer and fan-favorite Mike Johnson!
I'll admit I was quite confused watching the first season of Picard. I had forgotten entirely that Data had died, and had only vague memories from the 2009 movie involving the Romulans, so I struggled to place the events that were taking place in the show.
Thus when it finally got warm enough to walk up to the library I was happy to discover the Countdown graphic novel. It is too short to explain much, but we are introduced to the two Romulans that were living on Picard's vineyard estate, and it think it was a great choice, because we didn't need much background on them, but this was like the TV episode that was missing to fill in their back story.
Now I could have tackled the Picard novels next, but decided instead to read the Discovery ones first.
