Short books that make for interesting introductions to the creatures of myth and legend. While they tended to focus on the more familiar legends of Europe, the author made sure to mention creatures from other lands as well. I won't soon forget the human-like monster whose head consists of intestines which people would put hang statues of on their walls to ward of evil, apparently it was so terrifying even the other scary monsters didn't want to come near!
Now of course one doesn't get to go into much depth in books like these, and entire story will get summarized in a couple paragraphs and few pictures, but I felt they provided a good inroduction and will hopefully make children interested in learning more. And even an adult can learn a thing or two and I'm reminded after having read so many books of fantasy, there are so many other religions, mythologies, folklores and legends whose tales I have barely brushed the surface.
