All that Glitters
Welcome to the Enchanted Pony Academy, where glittery ponies learn how to use their magic!
Daisy is thrilled to be attending the Enchanted Pony Academy, where glitter ponies learn to use their magic. But she's nervous, too. Daisy's hooves are sparkly, just like every other magical pony's, but they don't give off glitter. And worse, she has no idea what her magical power might be!
Will the Academy help Daisy discover her magic and make all her dreams come true . . . or will she learn that there's been a huge mistake?
Wings that Shine
Skydancer can talk to any animal with wings -- a very useful Glitter Gift, and one she's always enjoyed (having your mane braided by birds is fun!).
But when she stumbles upon a dragon at the edge of the Enchanted Pony Academy grounds, Skydancer is terrified. Can she be brave enough to use her Gift and convince the dragon to go away ... before everything goes up in flames?
Let it Glow
Riding fun at the Enchanted Pony Academy!
Electra loves to be outside, running as fast as she can--and she's fast! So now that it's time to learn to ride with the children at Enchanted Pony Academy, Electra couldn't be more excited.
But riding is a lot harder than it looks. When Electra accidentally throws a prince onto the dirt, the other children are afraid to get in the saddle. Can she find her perfect match and keep working toward becoming a royal pony -- before time runs out?
Dreams that Sparkle
Belissima is the prettiest pony at the Enchanted Pony Academy -- everyone says so. The problem is, no one seems to see what else Belissima is: talented and hardworking. She dreams that someday everyone will see that her real magic doesn't have anything to do with her looks!
The royal children are coming to the Academy for the selection ceremony, and Belissima is determined to show that she's not just a pretty pony. It's her last chance to prove everything she can be -- which is so much more than a show pony.
These were fun tales, each one focusing on a different glitter pony, where unicorns and pegasi are just variations on a regular magical pony and not necessarily any more special. The first book focuses on Diane, whose hooves don't give off sparkles like everyone else does. While not everyone had already figured out their special power, the lack of sparkles convinced Diane that she probably didn't have any magical powers at all. But maybe there's a good reason for her being different? The next book switches to Celeste, for some reason I felt strange not following Diane any further, but each pony is the star of their own book. Celeste can speak with any winged animal, and that includes dragons, solving a long history of misunderstandings between equines and draconics. Electre is a gorgeous deep blue with a colourful mane and tale but her love for running fast scares the prince and princesses that come to ride her, until she finds a girl that cannot ride at all. Finally Bellisima is the most beautiful of the glitter ponies, but worries she'll be picked for her looks and not her interests, which involve getting muddy and dirty and running about in the woods, not getting groomed and her mane braided with flowers. Each pony has different strengths and worries about failing, just like any kid. If there were more of these books I would have kept reading them and they were nicely optimistic and with enough adventure and suspense to keep one's interest. But I guess there are a lot of unicorn/pony/etc schools out there, well, who knows, 2017 wasn't so long ago so perhaps more are on the way.
