Masters of Dragonlance Art
An age of wonder. A land of adventure.
For nearly two decades, heroes and villains have fought epic battles across the landscape of Dragonlance, one of the most beloved realms of popular fiction. For every tale told in this unforgettable setting, today's finest fantasy artists have brought the world of Dragonlance - its heroes, villains, monsters, and above all, its dragons - to wondrous life.
Now for the first time in fifteen years, the stunning works of these masters of modern fantasy art are presented in a single volume. This collection of artwork showcases the breathtaking world of Krynn as only those artists who know it best can portray.
A Practical Guide to Dragons
A Practical Guide to Dragon Riding
For Dragon Rider Eyes Only!
This book contains everything I've learned about finding, raising, and training a dragon mount. And it's the private property of my Aunt Moonbeam. If you're a serious student of dragon combat, dragon defenses, and dragon riding, you may peek inside the pages.
Everyone else: Hands Off!
Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home
Masters of Dragonlance Art - Absolutely gorgeous book. We take the book cover for granted, but what we see on the cover guides our imagination for the tale within. Because of dragonlance, I have actually learned the names of these artists and can even recognize some of their work (Pern did the same for Michael Whelan and Rowena). And I have to admit, I grab any rendition of Rastlin I can get my hands on, not sure why that character interests me so much, he is so unpleasant...but that makes him also interesting. I don't own many fantasy art books but I'm glad I have this one on my shelves.
A Practical Guide to Dragon Riding - I've read a few Dragonlance books so I'm familiar with the world and it's dragons so this was a fun read for me. Told from the point of view of a Kender mage named Sindri Suncatcher, you learn how to take care of a dragon of your own and how to ride it with very amusing results. Kenders are happy, fearless creatures so talking about raising one of the evil chromatic dragons is quite fun. And the artwork is beautiful (and also fun at times, with pictures of hapless riders being thrown off their dragons if they don't respect their mounts properly). This takes place some distant time after the the Dragonlance Chronicles so the war of the lance is over but it seems the dragons remain to be ridden. I hope I can find the the other book in this set, and even though this one came from the library, now that I know it's set in the world of Krynn I'm tempted to buy a copy for my collection. Though I must admit, raising and training a creature more intelligent than you are, that can take human form, is a very, very weird concept!
