A Unicorn Named Sparkle
When Lucy sees an ad in the newspaper for a unicorn, she sends in her twenty-five cents and waits four to six long weeks for her very own unicorn to arrive. She imagines the flowers that she'll braid into his beautiful pink mane, and she even picks the perfect name for him: Sparkle. But when Sparkle arrives, his ears are too long, his horn is too short, he smells funny--and oh, he has fleas. Lucy isn't pleased, but in the end she warms up to Sparkle and realizes that even though he wasn't exactly the unicorn she wanted, he might be just the one she needs.
A New Friend for Sparkle
Two's company. Three's a crowd.
Cole is Lucy's friend. Sparkle meet Cole. Lucy knows Sparkle and Cole will get along. What happens if they get along too well?
A Unicorn Named Sparkle and the Perfect Valentine
The fifth book in A Unicorn Named Sparkle series is about finding out there's no perfect way to say I love you.
Lucy and a unicorn named Sparkle are back for another funny and sweet adventure.
Valentine's Day is when you tell the people in your life how much you love them. There's no one Sparkle loves more than Lucy. He decides to make her the perfect valentine. Except, instead of hands, Sparkle has hooves. He can't write and he can't cut. So how is he going to show Lucy that he loves her best of all?
A girl orders a unicorn for 25 cents, and imagines he will be blue with a pink mane and tail. He will be majestic and everyone will love him. Instead, when the unicorn arrives he looks more like a goat, and he's smelly, and has fleas. Instead of proudly showing off the ring of flowers Lucy puts around his neck, he eats it. He makes a mess and farts in his sleep. Lucy wants nothing more than for the unicorn man to come pick Sparkle up and take him away. But things are a little different the next morning. Sparkle may not sparkle but the butterflies like him, and he can make Lucy laugh. So maybe he's not perfect but Lucy could learn to love him.
In the next book Sparkle makes friends with Cole and Lucy is jealous. What if they have so much fun together they forget to play with Lucy? Or if Sparkle likes Cole better? They also find out that unicorns can play the drum...and dance.
Cute books with artwork appropriate to the topic (meaning Sparkle isn't your elegant, beautiful, delicate, magical creature you'd expect and so neither is the artwork).
April 2024
Thought I'd so a pass to see if any new books were added to the unicorn series I read back in 2019, found Sparkle added a couple more though the library only had the Valentine one. And it was super sweet, a unicorn doesn't have any thumbs (or fingers for that matter) so creating the perfect Valentine's card is very hard, but as Sparkle learns, its the thought that count, and that thought means more than anything.
