I MET REMINA'S EYE.
An unknown planet emerges from inside a wormhole, and its discoverer, Dr. Oguro, christens the celestial body "Remina" after his own daughter. His finding is met with great fanfare, and Remina herself rises to fame. However, the planet picks up speed as it moves along in its curious orbit, eliminating planets and stars one after another until finally Earth itself faces extinction… Is the girl Remina the true cause of the catastrophe? A masterwork of horror from Junji Ito, unfolding on a universal scale.
THE PLANET NOTICED OUR EXISTENCE...

I seen this one advertised a lot so when I noticed it at the library decided to give it a try though I'm not a horror fan, however it was science fiction based and that I do like.
Well...there was a lot of screaming I guess. And a lot of running around. And there might be a handful of pages where we see the planet Remina with its creepy eyes and tongue. And other than that, there didn't seem much of a point, but then it was horror, I guess the point was to get scared and have an unhappy ending without hope. Looking at other people's reviews I found this one that seemed about right:
"A story about a killer planet is always going to be goofy but, even accepting that, Remina is badly written and so coconuts as to be laughable. The dialogue is always awful, the plotting is child-like and one absurd thing happens after another until you don’t care about any of it. "
I read the book in two sittings, it was very quick, since most of the dialog was "hah hah hah" i.e. a person panting as they ran, or "Aaaaaah!!!!" as they were tortured. And don't forget lots of "KILL!!!" with manic looks on peoples faces, and gallons of sweat. Those three syllables felt like a third of the dialog.
Interesting thought though, if a giant planet had a giant tongue that would wrap around the Earth and then yank back to make it spin really fast, would it create a wind that would pick up an angry mob in Japan, and whip them around the world in a few hours? And where was everyone else? Were there several billion people flying around all at the same time?
Is it weird that the only character I cared about at all was the creepy planet?
So read it if you like horror, but if you need something resembling a plot you might want to go elsewhere.
