Everybody knows your typical dragon breathes fire.
But when Crispin tries to breathe fire on his seventh birthday, fire doesn't come out—only whipped cream! Each time Crispin tries to breathe fire, he ends up with
Band-Aids
marshmallows
teddy bears?
Crispin wonders if he’ll ever find his inner fire. But when a family emergency breaks out, it takes a little dragon with not-so-typical abilities to save the day.
With wry humor and whimsical illustrations, Not Your Typical Dragon is the perfect story for any child who can't help feeling a little bit different.

I couldn't help finding this book very cute. I mean it's silly, imaging breathing band-aids? Sounds very unpleasant, even if the medical clinic was running low at the time. But to think of breathing teddy bears, beach balls, and even marshmallows! Crispin is a very versatile and useful fellow but he can't help feeling bad seeing as everyone else breathes fire. And the along comes a knight who is being forced by his father to fight a fire-breathing dragon. Fortunately that's the one thing that Crispin doesn't seem to be able to do, even with the knight trying to help him learn how. But in the end, everything works out for the best, as the dragons realized how handy Crispin's breath can be and how dangerous fire can be. And even an older knight can learn to look at dragons from a different point of view.
