Volume 1
Adventures of Unico, a cub unicorn, who was banished from Greece because of the jealousy of Venus. Unico travels through many times and places and makes everyone else happy, while Unico remains lonely and unhappy.
Volume 2

Aww, poor Unico. Unico is the pet of Psyche and Aphrodite decides she doesn't like Psyche and to hurt her, takes Unico away, sending the poor unicorn to a strange land without any memories. There Unico meets a young Native American named Teepee (yes, cringe...its a product of its time, at least they are portrayed in a positive light with the white men being the villains). As long as Unico is loved by a friend, he has powers, but when that friendship is strained, Unico no longer has any magic. Things obviously don't go well when Teepee falls in love with a white girl and eventually Unico is whisked away by Aphrodite again, memory wiped and dumped in a medieval setting. There he helps a princess and her father the king find happiness. But just as he succeeds and you think a happily ever after is in store, Unico is whisked away again, this time to help a silly little black & white kitten to be happy. Aphrodite never content, sends Unico on his way agai.
It's a strange little tale but also very cute and sweet though you end up feeling sad for Unico over and over again. He tries so hard to make everyone else happy but never really gets to find any happiness himself. The artwork is interesting too, its clearly Japanese manga, but is also has a tinge of what I know as American cartoons from the time. Something with the faces and the movements of the characters. You know, the overly goofy looking adults with oversized noses and mouths. While the girls are all pretty, only the last villain has that classic manga/anime male beauty with the long hair and sharp features.
