The little knight lives in a curious kingdom built on top of a forest His life is carefree. During the day, he has fun training flies. At night, he relaxes in a hammock, eating chocolate cake and befriending the bats.
One day, the kingdom falls under the shadow of a dragon. The earth and sky shake, and flames fill the air. The terrified villagers know that the little knight can save them. He sets off into the forest, scared but ready to face the dragon. But if the little knight can't overpower it, can he find another way to tame the beast?

A dragon is heard and the little knight is sent to fight it. When he realizes he only has a wooden sword and his pyjamas, the villagers find everything he needs to battle a dragon, even a metal horse. And so the knight sets off to fight, only to find that there might be more to the dragon than meets the eye.
Interestingly, various objects in the scenery are pointed out in the text, like a dropped nut from a tree, or a dropped screw from the horse. It was a unique touch though I often didn't know if I should read the notes first or the actual story text. The illustrations were also nice, and as I just mentioned, there are a lot of little details to wonder about (who lost that shoe, and whose gloves are those?). On the whole it was a fun read though certainly not my favorite of all the dragon books I've been reading this year.
