There once was a knight who THOUGHT he was brave and fearless and handsome...and a princess who discovered she didn't need rescuing.
A dashing knight decides it's time to impress the golden-haired princess. All he needs is a dragon to show off his marvelous talents. One day, a huge dragon appears on the horizon, smoke pouring from his nostrils. Immediately, the knight orders his squire to fetch his armor. But will he get dressed in time--or is this knight more interested in appearances than action? After much waiting, the golden-haired princess decides to tame that fire-breathing beast herself!
James Mayhew's playful watercolour illustrations capture the puffed-up pomp of the knight in this hilarious cautionary tale about the dangers of showing off.

This book was fun. A knight wants to impress the princess but there aren't that many dragons around (well, depends how closely you look). However, conveniently, one does show up to terrorize the kingdom. But you can't ride out to fight a dragon in any old armour of course, especially if you want to impress a princess, so while the knight gets ready, the dragon gets closer and closer until the princess herself has to do something about it! The princess ends up marrying the squire and the knight hopefully learns a lesson in priorities.
