Theodore thinks everything is a potential meal. Until something new approaches his cave. A boy. Has Theodore found a new favorite food? Or something more?

I am not sure what the moral of this story is. Don't trust your friends? Don't play with dragons? See Theodore the dragon lives in a cave, for most of the book he's not very hungry and tells various visiting animals to go away. Only the boy wouldn't go away, he even poked the dragon in the nose with a sword (after the dragon told him to go away, so are we teaching kids to annoy people in an attempt to make friends with them?). The dragon gives chase and somewhere along they way they fall down together laughing. Theodore then continues to play with the boy with the dragon thinking "I can always eat him later". *Shudders* that sounded so ominous. Little kids won't get that undertone of danger but I was a little freaked out as an adult. It's like watching a child crawl into the lion exhibit in the zoo, in fact remember that viral video of the lioness trying to eat the boy's head through the glass? It's funny because you know the boy is safe, but at the same time, terrifying.

I guess the author likes giving conflicting messages to children given he wrote something called "Warning: Do Not Open This Book", as well as one called "Please, Open This Book!".

I would not recommend reading this book to any child.
