"Have you seen my dragon?"
A small boy asks the question as he travels uptown and down, searching for his friend. Readers will certainly spot the glorious beast, plus an array of big-city icons they can count along the way. Is the dragon taking the crosstown bus or breathing his fiery breath below a busy street? Maybe he took a taxi to a zoo or is playing with the dogs in the park.
Steve light's masterful pen-and-ink illustrations, decorated with meticulous splashes of colour, elevate this counting book to new heights. Maybe they dragon is up there!

Wow, the illustrations in this book are detailed, there is so much going on. But then, this is New York so the streets are busy, the sidewalks full and there are plenty of things to count while also searching for the boy's dragon. And if you've ever been to New York and seen their steaming sewers, how could you not think there are dragon living under the streets! And perhaps it isn't a big surprise where the dragon is ultimately found. A fun book, perhaps not my favorite counting book ever, but still fun.
