While inspecting the newborn pigs on their farm a girl and her brother find a baby dragon, which soon proves to be both mischievous and lovable.

This is a cute tale of a couple of children discovering a baby dragon in their barn. It has unusual red eyes but it was for the most part a sweet little creature. Though they had to keep him well supplied with candle-ends for food, they enjoyed playing within him till the time came for him to fly away. I didn't love this tale, neither the story nor the artwork, though neither were bad, I've just read some really amazing children's books in the past few months. So while it was nice to come across an older one (published in the 80's most of what I find in the library are from the last 10 years) and you can really see the difference in art and prose, there were better ones out there.
