From the bottom of the ocean to the cold northlands at the very edge of the world...In this magical tale Wayne Anderson tells of a small creature's journey to solve the mystery of his name.

I like these older chidren's books because they tend to be more about magic and imagination and less about being silly. A dragon's egg is lost and hatches under the sea. The little dragon doesn't know what he is so he tries to be a fish, but that doesn't work. As he searches for his mother he tries to be different things, from birds to snakes but none feel right. Eventually he finds a young boy reading a book in his bed, a book about dragons with a map to where the dragons live, and together they head out to find the dragon's mother.
The artwork is a beatiful, atmospheric pastel, and the dragons remind me of the ones from the Flight of Dragons movie, something which evokes strong childhood memories! I enjoyed this book very much.
